Making a start.
Before starting I spent a fair bit of time looking at various aquarium designs, availability and cost and eventually decided on an aquarium with a sump as opposed to an internal type filter. I hope I am proven right!
There is a bewildering array of different tanks and equipment but you eventually have to take the plunge. (so long as the tank isn't too big!) The options available now are huge. Be it tanks, cabinets, lights and other equipment. The availability and choice has never been greater so plenty of research and lots of talking to LFS and fellow aquarists is a must if you are not too waste a lot of money and get the setup that is right for what you want.
I decided to go for a 36"x24"x20" glass aquarium with a pre drilled hole for the sump overflow and flexible pipe for return. I decided to include two circulation pumps as well as the return pump and have decided to go for the Aquabeam 1000HD tiles for lighting.
After looking at various options online I decided to buy most things through my LFS. I feel more confident about this and will also have somebody there in case I need further help and advice.
