Seashell Aquarium 36"x24"x20"
First things first. Putting together equipment before the water to make sure everything fits and is safe and easy to get at.
The Sump
I first set up the sump with the full hight section on the right, with the skimmer but I have decided to try the other way around. I have put the full hight section and baffle to the left with the return pump because it is easier to remover the skimmer for cleaning and still leaves a baffle for micro bubbles. More room in the third section for any chemical filtration bags, carbon or phos remover.
Unfortunately I will have to put the heater in the display tank as it is too big for any of the sections in the sump. To see how the sump develops visit The Sump

New sump layout completed and everything in place. White overflow pipe on the right connected to bulkhead fitting. Hopefully room for a filter bag to be fitted and removed easily.

All electrics now in place. Have tried to make as safe and as easy use as possible. Each appliance is individually switched and labelled with digital timers for the lights. RCD fitted to main switchboard.

Noisy Standpipe
The predrilled aquarium came with a bulkhead fitting and no standpipe. This was very noisy so I hunted around for 1" ABS pipework, American fitting and imperial units so not easy to find. Made a standpipe which was quieter but still sounded like water running out of the bath!
Try number three was to make a Durso style standpipe. Needed to send away for some bits and pieces but here it is!
